Introducing Jot

Hey everyone!

When I first started college, I struggled with taking notes. Keeping up with fast-paced lectures was tough, and my notes were usually a jumbled mess.

One day, a friend introduced me to a book about speedwriting. At first, it was overwhelming, but I soon realized I didn't need to use every trick in the book. In fact, it only takes a small fraction to write 80+ WPM.

Since then, I've reviewed a dozen similar books looking for more speed. Here's what I've found: true simplicity is the key to mastering speedy writing.

The "class notes sample" below shows how simple speedy writing can be an incredible game changer.

Today, I'm thrilled to introduce you to my simplified speedwriting method: Jot. It makes jotting things down quick and easy. Jot is not only fun but also engaging, like playing a game!

And the best part? It's completely free!

How Fast Do You Write?

Not sure?  Let's find out!

To assess your writing speed, you will need to write three sample sentences. Your average writing speed will be calculated once data from all three samples has been gathered.

Here's how it works:

  1. First, warm up by practicing writing each sample.

  2. Next, tap the traffic light to start the timer.

  3. When the light turns green, start writing.

  4. When the light turns red, stop.

  5. A speed calculator will pop up...

    • Simply enter how many times you wrote the full sentence and how many extra words you added.

Let's see how fast you can write!

Great Reasons To Jot

Take Better Notes

Taking notes is a valuable skill that involves keeping pace with the speaker.

Writing faster can definitely be beneficial.

The more detailed your notes are, the easier it will be to remember the information.

Get Better Grades

Having complete thoughts in your notes makes studying easier and more effective.

The challenging material that shows up on tests is usually covered in class, so having great notes will help you focus on those key points.

Simply highlight your notes and review them to prepare for exams.

Land A Promotion

There's nothing more impressive than nailing every detail of important requests. It's crucial for getting things done right, and your boss will definitely take notice.

Plus, having a writing speed of 80+ words per minute looks fantastic on any resume.

Have More Fun

Simplify your writing with easy-to-learn rules that allow you to abbreviate almost any word you write.

Taking meticulous notes can actually be quite enjoyable. It's a blast to capture all the important details and make them your own.

With Jot, you can turn note-taking into a fun game that you'll want to play forever! Give it a try and see for yourself.

With A Click Of The Pen

Jot doesn't require batteries, startup procedures, or have any technical limitations.

You can take detailed notes with drawings, special symbols, equations, charts, and maps.

After that, feel free to highlight, markup, circle, and underline as much as you want!

Let's Get Started    It's free!

If you write in cursive, aim for an average speed goal of 80+ WPM (words per minute). If you print your notes, you may shoot for 60+ WPM. No matter your final speed, get ready for your note-taking skills to soar!

It's time to pick a lane and start practicing.

Cursive Lane   (80+ WPM)

Begin here: Streamlining Letters.

Printing Lane   (60+ WPM)

Not everyone needs to write with "official cursive" script. However, everyone should at least be aware of two key cursive concepts. These concepts may help you fit Jot writing into your own natural writing style in a way that suits you best.

Begin with the Cursive Jump Start lesson, and then proceed to the first Jot lesson: Streamlining Letters.
