Tip: As you begin to learn an unfamiliar writing concept, one simple trick that can actually help is to lift your pointer finger and try spelling out words in the air. It may sound silly, but fingerspelling can really help you grasp the big idea.

Cursive letter shapes that we learn in grade school are excellent guides for "middle" letters that connect on both sides.
However, the "first" and "last" letters only connect on one side.
